There are a few things left-handed and right-handed guitarists need to get straight in their heads over the issue of left-handed left-handed guitars and guitarists.
There are several “ideas” in circulation on the subject, not surprisingly by ignorant right-handed guitar player, or cash sales only motivated staff musical instrument stores, which were generated in bribes from some special guitar brand, and sometimes even from bitter and twisted left-handed guitar player that somehow the feeling “cursed.”
Mainly, these myths have influence because of lack of knowledge with the whole unfortunate consequence of this false data, the people were in their decisions of games or learning guitar.
Let’s get one thing very straight. These common misconceptions are myths.
A myth to hear a legend when he will be banned once more. It is removed, by real data, ie. “The truth.”
Sun guitarist left and right handed guitar players alike can pass here to learn something. You may very surprised to know here are a few new things, or have cleared some misunderstandings. I hope so!
MYTH ONE. “A guitar is like a piano. There is only one way to play it.” (The “One Way” is right handed.)
This is one of the largest, outdated, are completely ignorant and false statements are on the subject. Yes, a piano playing is a way. No, a guitar is not played one way.
In fact, as the people playing the guitar these days, right-handed people may – 80% of the world – in fact, play guitar left-handed. That would mean they have their “stong” hand on the fingerboard all the work – as they do in life!
Way back in the old days, when a guitar only one “instrument strumming” It was a right-handed person would be the guitar with their “weak” hand play on the fretboard and its “strong” arm was kept as to strumso to time. There were no drummers and bass players in those days! Wake up! It is the 21 Century. People do not play like that anymore. Guitar playing has evolved. Is it not surprising that some of the world’s best guitarists are left-handed left to play guitar – and right-handed, the reverse scenario?
MYTH TWO. “It is difficult to learn, guitar, left in a world dominated by right-handed and right-handed teachers teaching handed pounds.”
This is a Doozer. In fact, playing the guitar left-handed is easier from a right handed teacher as a teacher, because everything the teacher tells you is a mirror image of what you do and easier to follow! Right-handed guitar player learning from a teacher have to do to get a mental switcheroo, what she is doing the right thing! There is an additional step, a left handed students to take any!
And books? There are books for teaching left-handers. They exist and they are not hard to get. There are not so many, but that’s a good thing. Fewer possibilities of confusion. Right-handed guitar instruction materials are so numerous that there is a surfeit of material that would make anyone dizzy open while trying to make sense of it all.
MYTH THREE. “You can not have many left-handed guitars.” Or: “It is hard to find a left-handed guitar.”
This was until 2006 when an Australian company called Gaskell Guitars were true. (Www. gaskellguitars. Com) Gaskell Guitars makes only left handed guitars and basses, and is the only company in the world, which makes instruments left handed only. Gaskell has grown considerably in recent years, the number one brand in the world for left-handed guitars. Several major guitar brands have stopped, left-handed guitars – Gibson, Paul Reed Smith, Rickenbacker. She stayed because of “lack of demand.” This is another myth.
MYTH FOUR. “There is not much demand for left-handed guitars”
This is the biggest myth of the lot.
This idea is definitely a right handed guitar manufacturer point of view. The existence of Gaskell Guitars is proof that this is wrong. While there is much less left-handed guitar players in the world there are many. Many must leftys left hand guitars. And they are not all “old people.” There are many young and old left-handed guitar players in the world. This is a fact. This is a fact that right-handed guitar company will never be aware, because they operate on the turnover and the turnover from right-handed guitars – for the majority. Understandable, but not true!
If you’re a left-handed guitar players reading this realize this: there are many people like you in the world – a lot!
These are the first four myths. There are more. More will be discussed in the next article. Stay tuned.
